Piper Hair Cut

Piper got her hair cut at Monkey Dooz in Eagle. She got to:
1. Sit in a cool pink Jeep
2. Watch a show
3. Get her hair curled
4. Get sparkles in her hair
5. Have her picture taken and put into a frame.
6. Get a certificate with a piece of her hair on it.

Below is a picture of her getting her hair washed.  I will post a picture of the frame and certificate later.

Really Old Car

One afternoon a really old model T drove by our house and the gentleman in the car asked if the kids wanted a ride. I let them take a spin. I was told by the gentleman that this car costs around $3M and there are only 3 left in the world still running. Not 100% sure how accruate that is but it was still really cool for the kids.

Vacation 2013 - Day 9 and 10

Day 9 was the beginning of our long drive home. We started the morning off going to the Asian district to get Grandma some special Asian food. We then headed from Seattle back to Emigrant Spring State Park outside of Pendleton, Oregon. This was the same park we stayed at on our first night.

This time we stayed in Cabin 6 which was bigger, had a stove and a refrigerator.

Day 10 we drove from Emigrant Spring State Park back to Boise. The trip was a blast and I know the kids will continue to talk about it for months, even years, to come.

Below is one picture from days 9/10 of our trip, cabin 6 where we spent our last night.

Vacation 2013 - Day 8

On day 8 of our vacation we headed to the Seattle Center to go use the last 2 tickets in our Seattle Passes. We went up the Space Needle for a second time and then to the Experience Music Project ("EMP"). If you ask the kids they loved the Space Needle. They were "on top of the world". At the EMP our family participated in a rock concert under the name Rock and Roll. Pennington played the drum, Johnny played the guitar, I played the bass and Piper was on vocals. We even have a poster of our band.

Before leaving the Seattle Center we met up with my life long friend Lindsey Graff.

In the afternoon we got ready for the big game. We decided to take a bus down to the game since there wouldn't be a lot of parking available by the stadium. Two and a half hours later we finally got on a bus to head down to the game. By the time we got to the stadium everyone was heading into the game 2 hours early to see the new stadium so we weren't able to tailgate with anyone.

On a good note we were able to get our whole family into the game with only 2 tickets. On a bad note our $98 tickets were 6 rows from the top. Pennington and I wore UW shirts and Piper and Johnny wore BSU shirts.

Below are a few pictures from day 8 of our trip.

Vacation 2013 - Day 7

On day 7 we spend most of the day driving up to Bellevue, Washington from Tillamook, Oregon. We stopped at a mall to grab a bit to eat and Johnny thought it would be a great idea to let the kids do one of those trampoline jumping things. I was not a fan of the idea but the kids loved it.

After checking into our hotel in Bellevue we headed to Gasworks Park for a picnic with a few my sorority sisters (Stacy, Julia, and Katie). Below are some pictures of day 7.

Vacation 2013 - Day 6

Day 6 of our vacation was spent trying to figure out what to do with pouring down rain and 50 mile an hour winds.  We decided to head into Tillamook to see the Tillamook Cheese Factory. To our surprise one of Pennington's classmates Henrik just so happened to be at the Cheese Factory as well. Henrik and Pennington were really excited to see each other. We walked around the factory and then had ice cream with Henrik's family.

We then went to Cape Meares Lighthouse and the Octopus Tree. It was super winding when we were there and you couldn't see more than maybe a mile away but it was cool for the kids to see a lighthouse and really crazy looking tree.

We finished out our day back at the State Park where we rode our bikes and picked wild blackberries. The evening program was about the difference between Seals and Sea Lions.

Below are a few pictures of our 6th day.

Vacation 2013 - Day 5

Day 5 of our vacation started out with driving down the 101 from Olympia, Washington to Tillamook, Oregon. The drive was beautiful. We drove over a really long bridge over the mouth of the Columbia River from Washington into Oregon and stopped in Astoria, Oregon to see the large ships. We then drove down to Seaside, Oregon to go to the Seaside Aquarium. The kids were able to feed the Seals. After feeding the Seals, the kids got to touch the beach and the ocean for the first time in Seaside. The kids loved it. After going to the beach we drive down to Cannon Beach, Oregon to see Haystack Rock, eat lunch and play more in the sand.

We rounded out our day driving down to Cape Lookout State Park outside of Tillamook, Oregon where we rented a yurt to stay in for the next 2 days.  The yurt was really cool and the beds were surprisingly very comfortable. The evening program at the State Park was about wetland birds.

Below are a few pictures of day 5 of our vacation.

Vacation 2013 - Day 4

On day 4 of our vacation we started our morning off getting the keys locked in the car. $90 later we were on our way to the downtown Seattle. We rode the Monorail from the Seattle Center to downtown Seattle. We walked down to the pier for a Harbor Cruise through Elliott Bay. After the Cruise we met Stacy and Briana (two of my sorority sisters) at Red Robin for lunch. After lunch we went to the Seattle Aquarium to see Sea Lions, Seals, an Octopus, and lots of fish. We walked through Pikes Place market and then headed back to the Seattle Center on the Monorail.

We ended our day driving down to Olympia. Uncle Ben recommended a great pizza place to eat at. We drove the kids by the capital building in Olympia so they could see what other capital buildings look like.

Below are some pictures from day 4 of our vacation.

To start out the Jewish new year we celebrated Rosh Hashanah with our Jewish friends. Below is a picture of the kids after Rosh Hashanah children's afternoon services at the park.

Vacation 2013 - Day 3

On day 3 of our trip we spent time at the Seattle Center. In the morning we to the Space Needle and to the Pacific Science Center. The kids thought the Space Needle was awesome. At the Pacific Science Center the kids were able to see several children exhibits about butterflies, dinosaurs, water, etc. There was a presentation at the planetarium called Preschool Trip to the Moon which was great. They did a great job introducing the planetarium to preschoolers since it can be really dark. We also took the kids to a 3-D movie about Monarch Butterflies. The kids did great at the movie and even kept the 3-D glasses on most of the time.

We rounded out our day going the Pyramid Brewery for dinner and then to a Seattle Mariners game.

Below are some photos from Day 3 of our trip.
